WHAT IS A LIBRARY BED?
A library bed, a type of Murphy bed, is a fold-away bed that is stored vertically against the wall and then concealed by doors that contain bookshelves. This bed was invented by a man named William Lawrence Murphy around the year 1900. Its popularity has gone up and down over the last century.
Often used as a way to save space in small houses and apartments, these beds have also recently seen a rise in popularity as a decorating trend for all different sizes and styles of homes. The unique quality of a bed combined with a bookcase appeals to those with a stylish personality as well as those who simply want to make use of limited space.
